Rosenberg argues the above match cannot be bigger than Mania this week Photo Credit: WWE.com |
Show: Cheap Heat
Episode: 8/12/15
Run Time: 46:50
Guest: none
Summary: Rosenberg is confused as to why the Lesnar/Undertaker match is being billed as "too big for WrestleMania," and Shoemaker poorly attempts to justify it. Shoemaker also apologizes for not knowing that Piper himself wrote the famous line about kicking ass and chewing bubblegum. The other topic to be addressed is Sheamus's failed cash-in on this week's RAW, and how there need to be more stringent policies in place to ensure an effective cash-in. The guys then talk about old school action figures because Rosenberg is contemplating purchasing LJN's old line of British Bulldogs and Savage and Elizabeth. This takes up a large portion of the episode, until they get around to talking about Stephen Amell's insertion into an angle with Stardust.
Quote of the Week: Rosenberg - "If it was halftime of the Super Bowl and they said, 'It's John Cena vs. The Undertaker,' whatever, some huge match, and they go, 'It's too big for WrestleMania,' but even if that would be a bad idea because you'd still be no-selling WrestleMania. So my point is, so much good stuff happens these days, but there are these little things that happen that to me, go against every rule. Nothing is bigger than WrestleMania."
Why you should listen: Due to the long section about toys and video games, this episode partially serves as one of those old school pop culture podcasts that some people seem to like, so maybe this will strike a chord somewhere. Rosenberg is right to call out WWE for a ridiculous statement like "too big for WrestleMania," and that brings about some fruitful discussion.
Why you should skip it: The official "title" of this episode is "Roddy Piper and the Sheamus Cash-In." I don't know who comes up with these titles, but that one is quite misleading. The only Piper talk is when Shoemaker admits his embarrassing flub from last week, and that's it. The Sheamus talk only lasts about four minutes. Why would you give this episode that title? The bigger problem is that there are only 46 minutes to work with here, and the guys have terrible ADD this week, preventing them from getting into a valuable discussion about much of anything, so maybe there was no appropriate title for the episode at all. Oh, and the soundboard is back. Ugh.
Final Thoughts: If the Cheap Heat crew knows that Rosenberg is going to have to leave early for whatever reason, they should try to be more focused. Instead, we get a lazy hangout session where they're mostly interested in talking about toys. Shockingly, for the first time Rosenberg uses the soundboard in a witty way by playing Batista's theme at Shoemaker for a certain reason. But then, after an episode that hasn't given us much, and as Stat Guy Greg is trying to do his main job, Rosenberg plays AJ Lee's theme again. Nooooope. No thanks. Let's try again next week, fellas.
