Kazuchika Okada and Samoa Joe had a bit of a reunion on Sunday. The two, who infamously teamed together in TNA back before Okada was the RAINMAKER, chilled in Joe's skybox during SummerSlam to take in all the action. While Joe probably would have been better served ON the actual card, I'm sure he enjoyed hanging out with one of his bros who also happens to be one of the biggest stars in the wrestling world. I'm sure Aiden English of new NXT Tag Team Championship fame relished the opportunity to pop his Vaude-villainous head into the shot. All in all, this picture is one of the coolest non-wrestling show things to come from the weekend.
Of course, Okada was in New York as part of Ring of Honor's partnership with New Japan Pro Wrestling, and he wrestled at the Field of Honor event on Saturday, which happened to be concurrent with the huge NXT Takeover show. Guess which show NJPW head booker Gedo went to? Yup, he blew off the ROH show to go backstage at NXT. I'm not going to read too much into the business implications of it, but it seems kinda shitty to blow off a show with a promotion your company is partnered with to go to the competition that is actively trying to put it out of business, regardless of whether Jushin Liger was there or not. Wrestling is quite the business, I suppose.
