Kana appeared at Takeover: Brooklyn alongside Ric Flair and Sgt. Slaughter in the crowd, and immediately, rumors started swirling. Shortly thereafter, intrepid Japanese reporter Enuhito dropped a report that she had signed with WWE weeks prior to the appearance. Today, WWE has confirmed said signing. Kana will be coming to NXT, reporting to the Performance Center in late September. The signing is bittersweet for the worldwide wrestling community. Joshi will be losing an electric performer and an entrepreneur. However, WWE will be gaining another stellar female talent who can come right into NXT and fill the void left by the three of the Four Horsewomen migrating to the main roster.

Kana has wrestled for several companies over her career to date, including the prestigious JWP, of which she's a former Openweight Champion, and Yoshihiro Tajiri's SMASH promotion, where she wrestled the former WWE and ECW superstar as well as Fit Finlay. She's been a regular visitor to the United States, wrestling for both Chikara and mostly SHIMMER. Her style is grounded mostly in strikes and submissions, and her roundhouse kick is a thing of beauty. She has the potential to be a transformative performer within the confines of WWE, or at least continue or hasten the arrival of women as wrestlers with agency rather than sideshow attractions. I'm very much looking forward to seeing how all this will play out, but I for one am rooting for Kana to kick major ass in her time in WWE.
