So, folks out in California have a unique opportunity this weekend. No, Dario Cueto isn't giving you an opportunity to win an Aztec medallion (tapings for Lucha Underground season two don't start until next month), but STARDOM, the most prominent
joshi promotion in the world right now is running a mini-US tour this weekend. Friday night, the promotion invades Covina, CA, which is about a half-hour east of Los Angeles. Sunday, the women scoot about five miles west to Baldwin Park. The show will feature a bevy of both Japanese and American wrestlers, including Io Shirai, Cheerleader Melissa, Kairi Hojo, Santana Garrett, Mia Yim, Hiroyo Matsumoto, Kellie Skater, Nicole Savoy, and Kyoko Kimura. Shayna Baszler will even be participating. The most notable name on the roster, however, is Act Yasukawa.
Yasukawa and STARDOM made
headlines earlier this year for the wrong reasons when she was the victim of Yoshiko going into business for herself in a February 22 title match. The incident left Yasukawa with major injuries and doubts whether she'd compete again in a professional wrestling ring. Eight months later, she's back and coming to America. She'll be confined trios matches, but hey, progress is progress. For now, check her singles work out in this match against former
luchadora and current Performance Center coach Sarah "Dark Angel" Stock (fka Sarita in TNA).
