If you’re new, here’s the rundown. We listen to a handful of wrestling podcasts each week. Too many, probably, though certainly not all of them. In the interest of saving you time — in case you have the restraint to skip certain episodes — the plan is to give the bare bones of a given show and let you decide if it’s worth investing the time to hear the whole thing. There are many wrestling podcasts out there, of course, but this feature largely hews to the regular rotation we feel best fit the category of hit or miss. If we can save other folks some time, we’re happy to do so.

Show: Steve Austin Show
Episode: 297 (Feb. 9, 2016)
Run Time: 1:23:06
Guest: Todd Carroll (14:15)

Summary: Austin recorded the pre-and post spots Sunday morning, so he includes a Super Bowl preview. The meat of the show is a phone interview with a recent Broken Skull Challenge finalist, Todd Carroll, of Wheaton, IL. They discuss how he came to be a contestant and his workout approach, then go through Carroll’s episode by each obstacle and spending most of the time on the Skullbuster finale itself.

Quote of the week:“I kinda wear my emotions on my sleeve, where I’m upset so I’m not gonna say too much, it was just eating me up inside where I was that close and I couldn’t make it happen at all. And it’s kind of a long day, too, because you get done, you gotta go to the airport, get, like, a red-eye flight, so I’m like, ‘I just want to go lay down and go to sleep and forget about all this,’ but it was just a long day afterwards where I had to sit and contemplate and torture myself about how I did.”

Why you should listen: You love Broken Skull Challenge.

Why you should skip it: You don’t watch Broken Skull Challenge.

Final thoughts: Glad it’s a real guest, bummed it’s another BSC contestant. Not a ton else to say here — if you don’t watch the show, I can’t conceive of any way in which this episode would be remotely interesting. If you do watch the show, you’re obviously a devoted fan and will absolutely love this inside look.
