The Dudley Boys are a top seed in this year's tournament. Who else joins them? Photo Credit: WWE.com |
The field of 64 tag teams will do battle over the course of the next two weeks in the form of polls here on The Wrestling Blog. The teams will be cordoned off into regions by decade: '80s, '90s, '00s, and '10s. OF course, some teams span decades and have had success either in two or more decades or in equal parts of different decades. I seeded these teams the best I could, and if you don't like it, then don't vote. Err, I mean, I will take your complaints into consideration. Anyway, before announcing the entire field, I will unveil the top seeds in each region:
- '80s: The Rock 'n Roll Express - Robert Gibson and Ricky Morton are the quintessential babyface tag team. They head the field that is probably the most difficult to discern from seeds 1 through 16.
- '90s: The Steiner Brothers - Scott and Rick were brothers with hard heads, big muscles, and accolades to match. While the Road Warriors gave stiff competition for the top slot, but the Steiners' influence nudges them over the top.
- '00s: The Dudley Boys - The Dudleys are among the most decorated tag teams of all-time. Whether in ECW, TNA, or WWE, they were automatically top contenders to the Tag Titles wherever they went.
- '10s: The Young Bucks - Arguably, the Jackson boys are the top non-WWE draws in the US, if not one of the top draws in the world as a tag team. Their high-flying and innovative style makes them not only the most controversial team in their region, but also the best.
