I guarantee that was the funniest and most entertaining "You're released" phone call in WWE history. Bye, everybody!

As you can see from the embedded tweets above, Briley Pierce, who never made it out of developmental, and Derrick Bateman have been released from WWE. Pierce is notable because his brother is Dolph Ziggler, and because of such, he had buzz around him. We never really got to see what he could do in the bigs though. FCW/NXT watchers might be able to fill in better.
Bateman however? Dude, not cool. He showed flashes of brilliance in his pre-crisis NXT work, and I was amped as shit for the USA Guy to debut. All I can say is that WWE better not have trademarked that character name, because USA Guy in Chikara would be all the wins. ALL OF THEM. That's about the only good thing that can come of this, for the record. Bateman can come to the indies and be awesome there, especially in a company like Chikara, and in companies from whence he came like Absolute Intense Wrestling. But yeah, WWE shit the bed pretty hard on him at least.
ETA: Sakamoto and Audrey Marie have both been released as well.
