Okay, yesterday I previewed what should be this weekend's main event in terms of wrestling. Absolute Intense Wrestling's JT Lightning Invitational Tournament is going to be off the chain, but if you can't make it to Cleveland, OH this weekend, don't fret. There's still a bunch of wrestling going on in your area or even on i-pay-per-view. I'm going to run down the main points of interest this weekend, but again, I only scratch the surface. If you want to go out and watch live wrestling (something I think everyone should do), then hit up Pro Wrestling Events and see what's near you.
If you can't be on Lake Erie for hot tournament action, your best bet is either to be in the Tampa Bay area or watching on iPPV Friday night as SHINE 10 comes to you live from the Orpheum in Ybor City, FL. Bell time is 9 PM EDT, and if you can't be there live, check 'em out on WWN Live. The main event is as marquee a match as you're going to get, as Portia Perez makes her SHINE debut against Jessicka Havok with a spot in the Championship Tournament at stake. These are two of the best wrestlers in the world right now, and Perez has been upping the ante by prodding at Havok on Twitter. I'm not sure if you should antagonize someone as unstable as J-Hav, but this is far from Perez's first rodeo here. Other qualifying matches include Mercedes Martinez vs. Mia Yim, Leva Bates vs. Taylor Made, Nikki Roxx vs. Allysin Kay, and Santana Garrett vs. Kimberly.
Also on Friday, Resistance Pro Wrestling will invade 115 Bourbon Street in Merionette Park, IL for their Lights Out TV taping. Doors open at 6 PM local. Raven, Perry Saturn, and Sid Vicious all will be making guest appearances. Jay Bradley and Amazing Kong are the only advertised talent so far, but you can expect all the regulars to appear, including Robert Anthony, D'arcy Dixon, Sugar Dunkerton, and Aaron Epic.
Rounding out the action on Friday, Elite Canadian Championship Wrestling will be presenting Clash of the Titans at Sullivan Hall in Surrey, BC. Doors will open at 7:30 PM local, and you'll see the main event of Scotty Mac defending his Canadian Championship against Kenny Lush. Also appearing will be KC Spinelli, Nicole Matthews, and the Bollywood Boyz.
Saturday's slate is headlined by Wrestling Is Fun! at the West End Youth Center in Allentown, PA, with doors opening at 6:30 PM. Remember, as with all Chikara/Wrestling Is... shows, children under 12 get in for free. Amasis continues his whirlwind comeback tour as he challenges Jaka. At the last show, Jaka defeated asssailANT for the WIF! Banana Championship and proceeded to eat said title hardware, so I'm not sure that there's any title on the line. However, it should be a hard-hitting, exciting match. Also on the show, the Devastation Corporation (with a third member of a heretofore unknown name) takes on the trio of Knight Eye for the Pirate Guy (Lance Steel and Jolly Roger) and the returning Shane Storm. Mark Angelosetti battles UltraMantis Black, and Green Ant will welcome the challenge of Oleg the Usurper.
Down in North Cackalacky, Omega Championship Wrestling has a star-packed lineup to raise funds for the East Wake High School wrestling team. The show is at the, duh, East Wake High School in Wendell, NC, and the show starts at 6 PM. The main event sees Shane Helms teaming with Matt Hardy to take on Steve Corino and CW Anderson. Also appearing on the show will be Davey Richards, Kyle O'Reilly, Chiva Kid, Caprice Coleman, Cedric Alexander, "Manscout" Jake Manning, and Caleb Konley.
North Shore Professional Wrestling in Montreal, QC, is running Golden Opportunity V on Saturday at the Centre Horizon. Festivities start at 8 PM local. The main event pits Franky the Mobster against Rhino in what should be an intense, hard-hitting brawl. Also, the NSPW Championship will be on the line. LuFisto, the former Champion, was stripped of her title because of injury, so it will be contested in a three-way dance pitting Buxx Belmar against Giovanni against Kevin Steen. Quebec wrestling icon and former WWE superstar Rick Martel will also be in attendance.
Pro Wrestling Collision will be presenting Survival Mode at the Boys and Girls Club in Carbondale, IL at 6 PM tomorrow. Like with WIF! in PA, children under 12 will be admitted for free. The main event pits Heath Hatton defending his PWC Championship against Bull Bronson. Also, Reed Bentley and Alex Castle will challenge for the Tag Team Championships against Ace Hawkins and Brandon Espinosa. Also appearing on the show will be Matt Cage and Christian Rose.
Saturday is also a big show for wrestling in Georgia, as it always is. First up, Deep Southern Championship Wrestling will invade the DSCW Arena in Blue Ridge, GA, with a bell time of 8 PM. A new Allied Independent Wrestling Federations World Champion will be crowned as Kyle Matthews, Justin Overstreet, "The Salem Sinner" Sixx, and Justin Flash will compete for the vacant title. Up in Cornelia, GA at the Anarchy Arena, Anarchy Wrestling will come on with a bell time of 8 PM for television tapings. Appearing on this show will be D'arcy Dixon, Seth Delay, Slim J, and Steven Walters.
Finally, on Sunday, back in Montreal, QC, Battle War will be headed to Les Forfounes Electriques at 8 PM for their tenth show, to be held in memory of the late Michael "Llakor" Ryan. "Speedball" Mike Bailey has a score to settle with Player Uno, and they'll be competing in a rubber match. Also on the show will be Giant Tiger, 3.0, RD Evans, and Buxx Belmar.
Once again, if you don't see a show in your area, check the Pro Wrestling Events link and see where you can check out live pro graps. But trust me, there isn't much in this world that's more fun than watching live pro wrestling. Do it! Advance the art!
