Instant Feedback: London Fog

Aces and Eights finally scored a big win tonight on Impact. Sure, they needed to beat up Hulk Hogan and prevent him from being the third guy on Bully Ray's and Sting's team. And they needed to assail Brooke Hogan to make Bully Ray leave the ring. But hey! The bad-ass invading group finally won a meaningful match! I hate to be the kind of guy who says nothing can be salvaged, but it feels like it's too little too late. It's almost like they took a look at the nWo and did everything the opposite way except for the idea of drawing the angle out longer than it needed to be.

Impact was actually anywhere from inconsequential to infuriating tonight. There were bright spots, like the eight man tag and the wondrous theatrical display of Joseph Park. Or the prospect of a feud between Bad Influence and the Tag Team Champions of Robert Roode and Austin Aries. Even though the match also contained fucking Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez, it was still everything that is currently right about the company. Well, at least they got all the good stuff out of the way early, right? Well, I dug the Robbie E/Rockstar Spud stuff too.

But the rest of the show just felt boring. Vagina-based offense in the Knockouts Championship match with more of a focus on Brooke Hogan than anything else. Rob van Dam retaining the X Division Championship against a guy who could actually use it for revitalization. Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe having to waste time with the grunts. It could have been worse though. We could have gotten all this in front of a dead as a goddamn doornail Impact Zone crowd. Good riddance to them.
