Could he be behind Sabato's intel? Photo Credit: Scott Finkelstein |
Derek Sabato showed up at Aniversario: Never Compromise with seemingly the same envelope Mike Quackenbush was given at the end of Chikara's WrestleCon show. He claimed to have received a phone call from someone who was also fired by Wink Vavasseur with the photo he tweeted and the information. Obviously, Occam's Razor states that the simplest answer, Quack, is the best one. However, Sabato was recently beckoning to Quack on Twitter about "the enemy of my enemy is my friend," which to me says there was still some uneasiness between the two, enough to keep Quack from willingly contacting his former rogue referee. Who could it be then? Here are six people I feel could be responsible for that phone call.
1. Soldier Ant
Of everyone who has been boned by Wink Vavasseur, Soldier Ant has been hit hardest. He was ripped from his team, his comrades, his unit, and placed with the interlopers, with whom he never got along. As a kick in the groin, he saw his replacement, assailANT, strike up a marvelous friendship with his buddies. He was promised a new troop of ants to command, but once Vavasseur saw he wasn't in line with their mission, he was booted from the corps and from the roster. To add insult to injury, his hard-earned 2011 King of Trios title was stripped from him and given to the interloper ants. There is no one in the Chikaraverse who has more of a reason to want to see Vavasseur taken from his perch, it's the Militant Mat Mite.
2. Dieter von Stiegerwalt
3. Ares
Neither the former Director of Fun nor the the consigilere in the Bruderschaft des Kreuzes would have noble reasons for pillorying Vavasseur at all. Ares was an architect of the last big bad invasion of the company, while von Stiegerwalt was his lackey put in charge of the office to make sure conditions for the Germanic invading group were favorable. However pure their motives, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, right? Sorry, deja vu. It's also worth noting that Sabato himself was a member of the BDK. Who better to help him in his quest than his former running buddies.
4. Bryce Remsburg
I know what you're thinking. Remsburg wasn't yet fired from Chikara when the phone call to Sabato was made. He also was part of the group that (reluctantly?) removed him from the ring at Aniversario. But remember, there's a whole lots a time travelin' goin' on 'round these parts. It wouldn't have been present Remsburg. It would have been future Remsburg, perhaps coming back in time to right wrongs and trying to prevent Vavasseur from dealing his doom. We all know Bryce has the whitest of white hats in Chikara. He's the only one. Of course if he could go back in time to make things right, he would.
5. The Swamp Monster
The Swamp Monster was forcibly removed from King of Trios night 3 by Condor Security. He was last seen cavorting with Lance Steel in Chicago at Tag World Grand Prix. Something has been amiss about this Earth elemental ever since he showed up around Chikara, which coincidentally enough was when he was a judge in the MMA Exhibition between Darkness Crabtree and Archibald Peck. He seems to be a key player in all this, but what is his role? And does he even have the speaking capacity to call someone on the phone?
6. Archibald Peck
Peck was never fired. That's true, at least to the best of our knowledge. However, did anyone consider to think that Peck would stoop to lying, especially if the theory of Two Pecks is true? Peck would have a lot to gain by getting Vavasseur deposed, whether evil or good. Even without going into whatever he saw in the past or future, Peck could restore his permanence on the Chikara roster with Vavasseur, the one who laid down the loser leaves town stip, deposed. Plus, he seems to be at the center of all this mayhem. What could be his endgame?
