1. Brock Lesnar vs. The Rock
Here's the boring choice, the one that's rumored to headline SummerSlam this year and/or Mania next year. This one seems like it's a nostalgia trip more than anything. It hearkens back to the immortal SummerSlam 2002 main event where Lesnar was ostensibly made as a WWE megastar. Obviously, the draw on this match would be the draw. It'd pit two of WWE's biggest names against each other. However, the big problem is that it does nothing going forward for the company. Lesnar would only be sticking around for the next year after, barring another extension, and who knows if Rocky will still wrestle after New Orleans. It would be burning a shot to introduce someone else into the pantheon to keep the big time feel of WrestleMania after the guys who were already made have gone. However, there's no denying the hype around the match would be GARGANTUAN.
2. CM Punk vs. The Rock
Hey yeah, now we're talking here. This is another far-from-new match, but it would be great to see Punk get his turn for redemption. Obviously, it might feel a bit cheap putting Rocky in the same role as he is this year, but at the same time, he's not going to be around forever, and he's also amenable to putting guys over... well, he used to be. Punk is the future of WWE, at least in the short term (remember, he says he's gonna bounce in a few years). No better way to solidify him than with a big win in the main event of WrestleMania over The Rock. Also, if the last two matches are any indication, they'll be good. Plus, Punk has been one of the only guys who has made Rocky tolerable since his return.
3. John Cena vs. The Undertaker
This is the last Streak match with major cache before it ends. Obviously, Cena ending Taker's winning streak would be the cruelest fate for fans of our ilk, but at this point, eh, whatever. Win or lose, this is probably one of the only matches not featuring The Rock, Brock Lesnar or another olden-time Champion type that could close the show, especially if it is Taker's proverbial last ride.
4. CM Punk vs. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin
I know, Austin said he's wrestled his final match, but a lot can change in the course of a month. If there's one thing in wrestling that's constant, it's change. There's a lot of groundwork laid for this match already, both guys respect each other, and hey, it would be special. If there's any prospect better than Punk vs. Rock on the mic, it's Punk vs. Austin.
5. Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk
This list is really Punk heavy, isn't it? There's a reason for that, and I'm pretty sure I've hammered it home thus far. Obviously, this would be the end of a yearlong story where the Paul Heyman Guys relationship dissolves and ends in a war to end all wars at Mania. The only caveat here is that Lesnar would be put in another position to lose a big time match, which could be problematic if he starts balking. I mean, you know he's not losing to Trips this year, right? Still, the story's the thing, and there's a hell of a story working here.
6. Triple H vs. The Rock
This is the doomsday, "gag me with a spoon" option that I can see them running with in terms of career symmetry (they were arguably each other's greatest rivals) and ego for the Game. I'm listing it here in an attempt to ward off evil spirits and make sure it doesn't happen. I really want to put "Brock Lesnar vs. Daniel Bryan" here, but at this point, it's a match as likely to close the show as Wade Barrett vs. Justin Gabriel. But I could be pleasantly surprised.
