The Portal is back, so why not have them do DDT4

The calendar reads August 6, so we're still a shade under five months away from the end of 2013. However, I just watched Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's DDT4, and I enjoyed the heck out of it, unsurprisingly. DDT4 is invariably my favorite PWG event on the calendar, and I don't think the time is ever too early to start thinking about the future. This week's Six Pack will list teams that I would love to see make their debuts at next year's hootenanny tag tournament extravaganza.

1. The Osirian Portal

The Portal has been reconstructed after eighteen months apart, and I believe they're ready to pick up where they left off. They will be storming Combat Zone Wrestling, where they performed the most illegal wrestling move ever, once more in addition to marching through Wrestling Is. Their arrival in PWG is long overdue. Their hypnosis and dancing act might seem a bit different for that crowd, but I feel like it would win them over huge. PWG has such a fun atmosphere. I'd say the biggest difference between it and Chikara is that PWG is far more mature/adult-oriented, but each promotion has an oeuvre similar to the other.

2. The Hooligans

Honestly, the only reason why they aren't out in PWG already has to be the lack of exposure they have outside their own area of Missouri. The Brothers Cutter have the kind of balls-out, devil-may-care attitude that gets guys mega-popular out in Reseda. Seriously, they're hosses, but they fly like cruiserweights. Plus, they have awesome hobo beards. Now that Kansas City is blowing up and St. Louis is getting some shine thanks to its affiliation with Anarchy Championship Wrestling, the Cutters will surely get their shots in other promotions once people see the big deal about them. PWG should be one of those companies giving them a look. Seriously, a match between the Hooligans and the Unbreakable Fucking Machines might shatter the world, Smoke-style.

3. The Irish Airborne

With all the CZW guys PWG is bringing out, I'm surprised the Brothers Crist haven't been looked at yet. They have developed a tremendous following around the Rust Belt, a scene in wrestling that is growing more and more prestigious by the month. They have a vibe similar to Sami Callihan, and that dude took PWG by the short hairs and whipped it around in his brief tenure there. These guys have the double team moves and the bad-ass air that can take them pretty far in SoCal. I would love to see them get a shot at DDT4.

4. The Washington Bullets

Man, three straight teams of brothers? I am on a genetic kick right now, but for good reason. The Williams Bros. are one of the most exciting young teams to come out of the South at the present moment. If you aren't as patient with scouring YouTube for clips of theirs, they have a few matches logged for Beyond Wrestling as well. Anyway, these guys have flips for days, but also are masters of the Southern tag style. A true hybrid team.

5. Tremendous Investigations

Okay, I will cop to having never seen Dan Barry and Bill Carr in action under this guise. However, LOOK AT THEM:

Their entry would be worth it just to see Barry show off his 'stache against Joey Ryan. Oh, and they're both perfectly cromulent wrestlers away from this certain gimmick, so there's that.

6. The Canadian Ninjas

You're damn right I'm going to continue to beat the women/intergender drum for PWG because there are way too many talented females out there who would add a billion cool points to any show they were added to. The Ninjas are a commodity on the indie scene; they are elemental heels in an environment where heels struggle to exist due to the pressures of crowd support and selling merch. They could end up counterweighting the Young Bucks on an opposite side of the bracket, or hey, why not face the two teams against each other and see which one outheels each other first?
