Deep down, we're all crazy cat people. RIP Gismo. Photo Credit: WWE.com |
That's why it sucked to hear that Gismo passed away last night, news broken on her Twitter. A mere few days earlier, Gismo was seen in the footage of Neidhart's and her now husband TJ "Tyson Kidd" Wilson's wedding on Total Divas. And for some reason, despite not knowing them personally, that bummed me the hell out.
This past weekend, I went to a friend's house to watch the Alabama/Texas A&M game. They have two cats, both as adorable as cats can be and the hyperactive creatures you've gotta sweep away from the barbecue. I was sneezing for a couple of days afterwards, but it was generally worth it. We all had fun and the like. And I kind of missed those cats despite my allergies. I understood the mantra of why my friends and other people own cats and love the hell out of them. It's a subconscious need to be a caregiver, in a sense. This is all kind of a mess mentally, but then owning a pet is less about the thoughts of having a pet around the house, and more of the love we want to give.
So I don't own a cat. I have owned pets, and almost all of them went away like the span of a goldfish (my first pet). They weren't that emotionally intense, but it also sucked to see them gone. They gave personality to the house. They made me feel less alone in the vast expanse. So I get it. I hope Nattie and TJ shower the love they gave to Gismo to their new cat. It's a complicated but wonderful thing.
