We hardly knew ye |
Rampage Pro Wrestling, the premier independent wrestling promotion in Central Georgia (and maybe even the entire state) has closed its doors and placed its assets and name on sale. Economic troubles were cited in the farewell message. RPW was televised locally in its area, and it featured wrestlers like Luke Gallows, Cedric Alexander, Caprice Coleman, Kory Chavis, Kyle Matthews, and Mike Cruz among others in its five year history.
With Connecticut Wrestling Entertainment closing, Metro Pro Wrestling going on indefinite hiatus, IWA Mid-South again going on the shelf because of Ian Rotten's medical troubles, and, if you don't buy into the whole closing as part of an ambitious story, Chikara unceremoniously ending, 2013 has not been a good year for wrestling companies to stay open. Hopefully, someone buys up RPW's assets and continues to operate, but if not, well, another quality wrestling organization has now gone to history. If one lesson could be learned from this news, then I hope everyone out there supports the wrestling companies they love. Hold them tight, go to their shows, spread the word about them, and do your part to make sure they're around for as long as possible.
